Frequently Asked Questions
To see one of our specialists, please call or email us and provide us with your referral letter. We use the referral letter to assess the urgency and will arrange a timely appointment for you.
We have several specialists, and many are fully booked for several months, so if you simply want the earliest possible appointment and are not fussed about which specialist you see, please let our staff know.
We will contact you to discuss a mutually suitable time and date
You will receive a SMS or a phone call closer to the day of appointment to confirm your attendance. Please cancel your appointment if you can not make it. This allows others to be seen earlier.
From time to time we may call you to move your appointment slightly earlier or later on the same day to avoid excessive waiting time. We hope you understand the need to do this and apologise for any inconveniences.
Please bring with you:
– Your referral letter from your GP/Specialist
– A list of your current medications
– Any relevant test results such as blood test results, X-Rays or Scans
– Medicare, Concession Card and/or DVA Card
Please allow an hour for your initial appointment. This allows us time to collect all relevant information required to provide a personalised medical care, complete required forms and process fees and rebates.
Please note, a valid referral letter (dated and signed) is required to obtain medicare rebate for your consultation.
Referral letters from your GP will expire after 12 months (or 3 months from your Specialist) after which a new valid referral letter will again be required.
Consultations can still be provided without a valid referral letter but your rebate may be rejected by Medicare.
Fees vary depending on the type of consultation carried out on the day and your Medicare and/or Concession status.
Consultations may be a “standard” or a “long and complex” consultation. Different fees and rebates apply to each but it can only be determined on the day at the end of the consultation.
Initial appointments are typically longer therefore more expensive but with greater Medicare rebate.
We can lodge your Medicare rebate electronically on your behalf at the end of the consultation, but only if you have a valid referral letter.
Unfortunately, private health insurance only pay for hospital and allied health treatments, they do not provide rebates for Specialist medical consultations
Most of our specialists are fully booked for 3 months or more, so to allow others the opportunity to see our specialists in a timely manner, please cancel your appointment (call or email) if you are unable to attend for whatever reason. Our staff would be glad to reschedule the appointment for you.
To discourage non-attendance that wastes everyone’s time, if you do not show up for your appointment and did not cancel your appointment, a pre-payment will be required in order to rebook your next appointment. Pre-payment will serve as payment for the rescheduled consultation but forfeited if the rescheduled appointment is missed again without cancellation.
RMS often require Specialist Medical Assessment to be carried out on an annual basis for commercial drivers (heavy vehicle and public passenger vehicles) with certain medical conditions such as diabetes.
If an assessment is required, you will receive a letter in the mail from RMS detailing the requirements.
Typically, a “NSW Fitness to Drive Medical Assessment” is carried out by your GP and a “Specialist Medical Assessment” can be completed by our Specialist and submitted electronically.
For the “Specialist Medical Assessment”, we will require a referral letter from your GP, a recent (less than 3 months old) HBA1c result and at least 2 weeks of blood glucose monitoring records.
Please note, RMS certification is not guaranteed. Our specialists will not sign off if you do not have the required information or if you do not meet medical standards as set out by the Austroads guideline.
Certain employers may request specialist assessment for work health and safety reasons.
Typically a letter from your employer or their delegate will be provided to you and it sets out the required standard for work health and safety certification. This letter may also indicate if a fee is payable by you or your employer. Please bring this letter with you on the day of consultation.
Telehealth appointments are not generally available for an initial consultation.
Some (but not all) of our specialists offer telehealth assessment for subsequent follow-up appointments if suitable.
We have limited onsite parking available at the rear of the building. There is usually street parking available on Bringelly Road within 5 minutes walking distance.
Kingswood train station is less than 10 minutes by foot.
There is a Bus stop right outside our location. Bus 774, 775 and 776 travels between Mount Druitt and Penrith via St Clair, Erskine Park, St Marys and Nepean Hospital.
We have onsite Douglass Henly Moir pathology available on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 8:30am-12:30am. No booking is required.
